Spring Season - In the Name of Flora

It is exactly 30 days of Spring today and the weather is absolutely beautiful with the clear blue sky and warm breeze kissing my rosy cheeks and caressing my tanned skin. Ahh...what a feeling. I could just lie on the soft grass all day while writing my blog.

Everyone knows Spring means the time of blooming flowers, the buzzing of bees and the chirping of birds. It's the time when people gets busy tending their garden, or go for picnics at  the park or go for walks at the foreshore. It's also the time when people are looking forward for summer holidays in just 2 more months. But let's not jump ahead too fast. Spring is here and Mother Nature has been extremely busy with her work, making sure her artwork is there to be appreciated by us.

And I did just that, by taking few shots of blooming orchids, kangaroo paws, red sunburst, etc. taken at the backyard of my aunt's garden. If you're a fan of the flora...then you'll enjoy my colourful collection of flowers.

Winter season is coming to an end in a couple of weeks, and I thought I should blog about my  personal winter clothing collection. Thanks to my supportive girlfriend who inspire me to blog about it (you know who you are *wink*).

When I shop for clothes, I don't usually splurge on expensive or branded clothing line, unless I really need an extensive retail therapy and end up overspent my budget limit. (hehe)

Bike Riding Anyone?

It never crossed my mind to buy a vintage ladies bicycle, not from a bicycle shop but from eBay. I was quite impressed with the concept of buying items online, and with eBay, I was happy with my package being delivered within a week from NSW to WA, and in good condition too. Purchase price from eBay was for $250 inclusive postage fee and free accessories worth $100 (pump; water bottle & holder; lock and lights). Great bargain! :)

And today, right after work, I had a good 10 minutes cycling around my residential park. The bright metallic pink made my presence obvious to the onlookers, some smilling or waving at me as I cycled past them. Awesomeness overwhelmed me for a few seconds (hehe!)

And here it is...my beauty :)

Happy Birthday To Me...

Just 2 weeks ago,I have officially turned a year older and supposedly wiser, as most people would say.
But I think I have grown a little bit wiser with life's experiences; i.e the heartbreaks from relationships make you grow stronger and wiser not to foolishly be infatuated easily. In other words, I have doubts in trusting men when it comes to love. I've tried to open up, but the door hinges would not budge an inch. I blame no one but myself, only time will tell.

It's my first year of being many miles away from the family to celebrate my  birthday, and it's my first to celebrate this momentous day with the Fowles. On the day itself, we had dinner (ala carte menu) at Sizzler. The food was delicious; I had BBQ honey roasted spare ribs, with salad on the side.

The only missing piece to this birthday puzzle was the birthday cake. Im not fussy or particular without having a birthday cake on my birthdate but it would be nice to have one. The only reason was because we wanted to wait for Uncle Ray to come back for his R&R on his birthday (today). So, it's a "kill-2-birds-with-1-stone" kind of thing.

So, there you go...a simple happy birthday celebration for lil ol me. And I have not forgotten to make my birthday wishes.

Yum Cha & MacNuts Farm on a Sunday with The Fowles

I had a good Sunday with the Fowles family with a start of a promising sunny weather in the morning despite the chilly winter breeze. By mid morning, we were already out from the house headed towards the Kwinana freeway and to Leeming, a small suburb where we had our yum-cha (dim sum) for early lunch. There are several Chinese restaurants around the area and the variety of choices are endless from pork buns;sio mai;prawn balls; mince pork with chives; to sweet desserts such as mango pudding; egg tarts; and coconut jelly. I should have taken photos of each of these delicious servings but I was too hungry and busy shoving it all in; while trying to compete with my cousins in an eating competition *big grin*. We spent about $160 for the delicious lunch; that's about $27 per head, including the refreshing bubble jelly milk tea that we'd ordered later.

After the hearty meal, we drove back towards the Kwinana freeway headed home (Rockingham) but we did a last minute detour to Baldivis Road when my aunt suggested we should stop at the MacNuts Farm to get some delicious crunchy macadamia nuts. Mmmm...yummy macadamia nuts!!! The farm is situated at 213 Doghill Road, Baldivis, some 50 kms south of Perth on Western Australia's sandy coastal plain. On our arrival, all I could see were straight lines of tall trees; like a mini jungle. Further inside the mini jungle farm is a modern farmhouse and a huge barnyard that I assumed is the processing plant, where they process the macadamia nuts. We went inside the house, which is actually a mini shop that sells various macadamia products; from processed ready-to-eat macadamia nuts which are available in 9 different flavours including chocolate coated and caramel ones (my favourite!) to their very own cosmetic body & skincare products. The price range is a little bit pricey but it was worth it compared to buying from supermarkets.

Open 7 days a week from 10AM - 5PM

I ended up buying the caramel coated ones after tasting few samples of the delicious nuts; a 200g packet cost me about $10. (that's not cheap). After that, we went straight home, and started sampling our macadamia with our bottle of Coronas...cheers :)

Taking a day off Friday

I decided to take a day off today because I need to have a long undisturbed sleep. These past few weeks since I started working as a contract role for AnsaldoSTS, I've been forcing myself to wake up at 5AM every morning without fail. Why? Because the distant to my workplace is about an hour ride from Rockingham. I would leave the house at 6AM just so I could reach the office at 7AM and start working till 430PM. Besides, I like the idea of coming home early and beat the traffic jam. But last night was taking its toll when I just felt so exhausted. I was literally 'brain-dead' from officework!!

It's so peaceful and quiet with the kids still at school and my aunt at work. I have the whole house to myself..well..not quite..I have the dog with me, a pure breed Yorkshire Terrier and her name is Nulla. She's a babe but can be a 'b#@&' when something or someone pissed her off, like the neighbour's dog barking incessantly. Gawsh!!!

It's already past noon and I thought I might just cooked up something simple, so I ended up chopping few pieces of cauliflowers, pour in some fresh milk and lots of grated cheddar cheese. Pop into the oven for 15 minutes and my lunch is ready. It may not looked presentable but I couldn't be bothered making anything fancy. Bon appetit.

Pimp My Ride

Exactly 3 days from now, I'll be cruising my very own Aurora Blue Ford. I can't wait to grip my hands firmly on the steering wheel, push the gas pedal to get the right speed and drive past the foreshore with a big grin on my face.

No more rushing to get to the train station or run towards the bus stop just so you'll be on time, otherwise it's another agonizing 20 minutes before your next bus ride. With winter already causing so much drama in my life, I exhale in relief knowing that one burden will be off my shoulders in days to come.

Just look at her, isn't she just amazingly 'blue-tiful' *eyes glinting with admiration*

A Walk To Remember....at Secret Harbour Beach

It was a good car ride along the southern suburb of Perth, and Rockingham is the suburb I reside (temporarily).  I wanted to go for a walk at the beach at the Rockingham Foreshore since it was only few minutes away from home but then I decided since we're already in a car, I told my buddy to surprise me on our next destination.

It was indeed a beautiful surprise as we headed to the beach called Secret Harbour Beach. It's located within the city of Rockingham on the Indian Ocean coast of Comet Bay (about 30 minutes ride). The beach is magnificent (by far) and it goes all the way (endless), the waves just keep on coming and splashing at my feet, cooling off whatever stress I've got for the past few days. Too bad I didn't bring my 2-piece suit *grin*, otherwise I would have jumped in and soaked myself right there, plus the smell of the ocean breeze is so refreshing. I could see surfers (good-looking ones, hehe) on their surfing boards waiting for the next waves, some couples covering themselves with sand and 2 huge husky dogs chasing after the annoying seagulls. Amazing view! I want to live here.. the beach life is so cool :)

Here are some pics I've taken while I was there...enjoy

Just look at the clear sea water...wanna jump in straight away

My favourite shot - of my shadow of course!

Something to leave behind Secret Harbour...while it last :)

Restless Night...

I woke up this morning with puffy eyes and dry lips, all because of last night restless sleep. It could be the snorer or my midnight snack!

It was a cold autumn night and the wind was constantly blowing, making the night a little bit eerie and dead quiet. I could occasionally hear the sound of the floor creaking and the window blinds banging against the window frame as the wind pushed its way in. Making matters worst was the neighbour's dog barking loudly assuming someone was in the backyard.

Tossing and turning on my hard bed, I was trying to count sheep backwards if that would help, but to no avail. I looked at my sleeping partner, snoring away like a supersonic jet flying at a speed of light. To be honest, the 2 most unbearable habits that I could not handle are smokers and snorers. In my past relationships, I had been with both and survived (hehe)

I was a bit hungry so I helped myself with the leftovers dinner. 3 juicy lamb sausages and a cuppa hot green tea. It was 1am!!

So tonight, I plan to have an early night, before the clock strikes midnight and right after I finish my 2nd blog entry. Almost there...

Looking forward to a relaxing Sunday...signing off for now. Selamat malam!!
